If you’re looking for the best dessert places in Chehalis Washington to grab a sweet treat, you’re in the right place! Chehalis may be a smaller town but it’s FULL of incredible local food businesses, especially when it comes to dessert.
I’ve had the privilege of growing up in the area and wanted to create this list for any dessert lovers looking to explore all Chehalis has to offer. Whether you call Chehalis your home, or are just passing through, this list will be your guide to the best bakeries, cafes, and more when it comes to satisfying a sweet tooth.
Some of these businesses have been around for decades, and some are newer within the last few years. However, what they all have in common is they are well known and loved in the community for their incredible desserts.

First up, Joy’s Once Upon A Thyme. Stop in for a friendly down to earth atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. With a focus on fresh, clean ingredients and a strong devotion to accommodating all kinds of dietary needs, this Chehalis café offers something for everyone.

When it comes to dessert, Joy’s scrumptious and whimsical baked goods have earned a devoted following. Popular options include her signature carrot cake, chocolate raspberry almond torte, and peanut butter chocolate cake. You may recognize this cafe from it’s feature on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives!

While chatting with Joy about her story and business, I couldn’t help but feel inspired. She genuinely loves creating delicious food and desserts that bring people together even after decades in the industry.

Nestled in downtown Chehalis, Market Street Bakery is a cozy gem where the smell of coffee, buttery croissants and fresh baked tarts hits you at the door. With a casual, inviting vibe, this made from scratch bakery is known for its incredible pastries and stunning tarts made in house.

The marrionberry, raspberry, and strawberry rhubarb tarts are a few of the local favorites. Inside, you can also peek through a window to the kitchen and watch the bakers in action as they prepare baked goods. Bonus point for parents: there’s a kid sized table and plenty of toys to keep the littles happy.

When I stopped in for this visit, I was in line with one of Market Street’s regulars. She mentioned she’d moved away from the area, but loves the food and desserts so much she still makes a habit of visiting the bakery. I don’t blame her, the croissants alone keep me coming back time and time again.

Jeremy’s Farm to Table is a go to spot in the area if you’re into fresh, local food that highlights the flavors of the season. When it comes to dessert places in Chehalis, Jeremy’s has one of the biggest gluten-free dessert menus around. There’s something for everyone without skimping on flavor.

Their creamy and indulgent peanut butter pies and key lime pies are especially popular, offering rich, satisfying flavors that keep people coming back for more. At Jeremy’s you can expect a laid back dining atmosphere, perfect for getting together with friends and family around good food.

Jeremy’s Farm to Table is one of my husband and I’s go to places to take people when they’re visiting Chehalis. We know we can count on a great meal with fabulous dessert options to finish it all off.

If you’re in town on a Saturday, Sweet Dough Cookie Co’s famous cookies are a definite must try. Each week brings a new lineup of flavors in decadent combos you didn’t even know you needed. Fan favorites like raspberry cheesecake and caramel cheesecake cookies often sell out fast, especially through pre-orders.

Beautifully decorated seasonal sugar cookies also make there way into the lineup here and there. This comes as no surprise considering owner Ashleigh Shirer is a two time Food Network Christmas Cookie Challenge Winner. Cookies are available on Saturday’s from 9am until they sell out. (Which as you can tell by the line of customers trailing down the block, happens quick!)

While chatting with Ashleigh, she mentioned how passionate she is about showing moms that it IS possible to go after your dreams while raising a family. Her creative business model designed to work hand in hand with her family priorities has grown into one of the most well loved dessert places in Chehalis, making Sweet Dough Cookies synonymous with Saturday’s.

Experience nostalgic charm at Dairy Dan, a local staple that’s been serving up towering soft serve cones and milkshakes for decades. With classic checkered floors and walls lined with photos of local history (from high school plays to faces you might see around town), this diner holds memories for many generations.

Don’t be surprised when you hear, “Yes, that’s the small size” as you’re handed a hefty chocolate vanilla twist cone. Dairy Dan’s is the place to go if you’re looking for classic cones, a wide variety of milkshake flavors, and a burger and fries to go along with it.

I’ve been coming to Dairy Dan’s ever since I was a kid. Whenever I’m in the mood for a chocolate vanilla twist, it’s the first place that comes to mind. I along with many others in the area have memories coming here to celebrate the last day of school, coming over for a quick off campus lunch in high school, or cooling off with a milkshake on a hot summer day.

At Shona’s Food Company in downtown Chehalis, you’ll find an eclectic, inviting café where British tradition meets Pacific Northwest inspiration. Known for its cozy atmosphere and thoughtfully crafted menu, the café showcases owner Shona’s heritage through cozy and comforting desserts like crumpets, bakewell tarts, flaky pastries, and milk cakes, all made with a huge focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

For example, many menu items feature fresh dairy ingredients from Black Sheep Creamery, which just happens to be located right next door. Be sure to try out beloved family recipes like Aunt Sharon’s Scottish shortbread “Boss Biscuits” or Grandma’s Chocolate Cake topped with a shining chocolate glaze.

Shona’s Food Company is one of those dessert places in Chehalis that makes me proud to share the unique food spots our town has to offer. When I last stopped in, she was putting the finishing touches on a cheesecake made with local duck eggs, and fresh cheese from Black Sheep Creamery next door. It was easily one of the best cheesecakes I’ve ever had.

Local business PNW Cookie Company is changing the game on what allergen friendly cookies can be. Known for shocking people with what’s NOT in them, PNW Cookie’s indulgent cookies are vegan, gluten-free AND soy-free. If you’ve ever searched for food that checks all three of those boxes, you know what a rare combination that is. PNW Cookie Co has quickly built a devoted fan base among customers with AND without allergies because their cookies are just that good!

If you need a cookie fix, grab their cookies at local Chehalis and Centralia Avenue Coffee Stands, or visit their newest location, Espresso! by PNW Cookie Co.

Customer flavor favorites include Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, or the soft and delicious Snickerdoodle. Keep an eye out for their festive seasonal offerings including their limited edition Birthday Cake, or my personal favorite around the holidays, Peppermint Hot Chocolate.

For a period of time, my daughter had to follow a strict no dairy diet, and PNW Cookies were a total game changer. Not only were they a delicious option she could safely enjoy, but they tasted so good that the rest the family wanted a bite of HER treat. The fact that they’ve created cookies with this level of flavor and texture without dairy, soy, or gluten is seriously impressive.
Chehalis may be small, but its dessert scene is full of passionate bakers inspired by their heritage, seasonal ingredients, and the community that surrounds them. Whether you’re looking for nostalgic soft serve, elegant pastries and pies, or allergen-friendly sweet treats, this town has something special to offer. I hope this guide helps you discover a new favorite, or reminds you of an old one. And if I missed your go to dessert spot, I’d love to hear about it in the comments so we can keep celebrating all the great dessert places Chehalis has to offer together!
